Now it’s nothing new for a band to have different versions of the same song, acoustic, remixes, even slightly changed lyrics… but I see the concept that the band 36 Crazyfists did as a little different and pretty interesting. What they gave us are two different songs with the same lyrics. “Midnight Swim” has the typical energy and metal style for this band, while “The City Ignites” is not merely an acoustic version of the song, but a completely different take. Rather than simply changing the feel, what we end up with are two different musical interpretations of the same lyrical theme, which I just think is pretty cool.
